RANDOM ENGLISH WORDS!

A large vocabulary is important to have if you are an English teacher. But we bet you haven't heard of these crazy, random English words before. Broaden your vocabulary even more with these interesting English words:

Has anyone ever confused or flustered you? Well, then you have been bumfuzzled! Bumfuzzle means to confuse or fluster.

2. Degust (verb)    

Are you a foodie? Do you enjoy and appreciate your meals, savouring every bite? Then you are probably degusting your meals. Degust means to taste (something) carefully to appreciate it fully.

3. Taradiddle (noun)    

We all know at least one person that is pretentious and lives to tell a white lie every now and then. So unnecessary! A taradiddle is a petty lie or pretentious nonsense. 

4. Divagate (verb)    

Oh, how we all do this when a student asks about something we love. We then tend to divagate from the actual lesson plan! Divagate means to stray or digress.

5. Collywobbles (noun)    

The feeling in your tummy when you get stage fright or have to go on a thrilling ride. Collywobbles is a stomach pain or queasiness or intense anxiety or nervousness.

6. Eucatastrophe (noun)    

All the fairy tales have this and don't we wish that our lives could be the same. A eucatastrophe refers to a happy ending. Another interesting fact, JRR Tolkien coined the
term!

7. Lollygag (verb)    

Do you put the 'pro' in procrastination? Well, then you are known as a lollygagger! Lollygag means to spend time aimlessly, idle and dawdle.

8. Furuncle (noun)    

We all tend to get pimples or some weird bumps when we are stressed out. The technically correct term for a boil is a furuncle.

9. Ratoon (noun)      

No, you don't have to stress. This is not a hybrid form of a raccoon. Ratoon refers to a new sprout springing from the base of a crop plant after cropping.

10. Momism (noun)

For all the mama's boys out there, there's actually a word for the relationship you have with Mom. Momism is the excessive attachment or domination by one's mother.

11. Noctambulist (noun) 

Isn't it creepy when you sleep over and your friend turns out to be a sleepwalker? Another word for a sleepwalker is a noctambulist.

12. Peterman (noun) 

Thinking of planning a money heist? Then make sure you hire a peterman! A peterman is a thief or safe-breaker.

13. Pother (noun) 

Don't some people love to make a commotion when things aren't going their way. Next time you can use the fancy word and tell them not to make such a pother! Pother is a synonym for a commotion or fuss.

14. Rhinoplasty (noun) 

Don't be shy, we all have considered a nose job before. Rhinoplasty refers to plastic surgery performed on the nose.

15. Spaghettification (noun) 

This one is for the space nerds out there. Spaghettification is the process by which an object would be stretched and ripped apart by gravitational forces on falling into a black hole.

16. Studmuffin (noun) 

Every girl believes her man to be a studmuffin (even if it is VERY questionable). A studmuffin is a man that is perceived as attractive and usually has well-developed muscles.

17. Thalassic (adjective) 

Do you also find that thalassic peoples are always friendly? Thalassic refers to anything relating to the sea.

18. Tittle-tattle (noun/verb) 

We are all guilty of this one. Tittle-tattle is casual conversation about other people (usually involving details that are not confirmed as true), aka gossip.

19. Stunner (noun) 

Or goddess if you wish. A stunner is a strikingly beautiful person or thing, but it usually refers to a girl or woman.

20. Winebibber (noun) 

Do enjoy a glass of wine (or two) every night? A winebibber is a habitual drinker of alcohol.
